Looking for a new 115 this year and am wondering about the new DFI's. Are these motors worth the extra buck? What makes them better? Thanks.
The dfi's were made to meet the new EPA's standards. They are more fuel efficient and quieter. Before you make a purchase though, I would strongly advise taking a look at the Yamaha 4 strokes. These outboards are of superior quality. They have a 115 that could be great for you. They use less fuel than a 2 stroke and the low noise level is almost scary. You can run wide open and talk in a normal tone of voice. Check them out at www.Yamahausa.com. If you want any more info email me anytime. Also. if you live in Pa. or Ny., I can set you up with my dealer.
Good fishing,
Sam
I purchased a new (2000) Evenrude 115 DFI last year after having an older Johnson 115. The motor works great and I never smell smoke. It is very quiet.
However, I have seen some bad stories regarding the new motors. If I had the $'s, I would go with the Honda 115 even though it is heavier.

PMB.
