I'm looking for input on transducer mounting problem on my 205. I currently have it mounted on the transom about 8" right of center. The problem is I get no reading above approx. 10 mph. I'm assuming it has something to do with the way the hull design is stepped? (Air pocket). Do I need to mount it further away from center? Closer to center? Down under on the stepped part of the hull? Have any 205 owners had similar problems and what was the fix? Thanks in advance for advice.

Paul-You have to use a thru hull transducer for this application. Had the same problem on a friend's 189. There is a spot in the rear compartment under the batteries just for this purpose. If you are using Lowrance equipment, the transducer needed is the same one used for the electric trolling motor and comes with directions and the needed epoxy adhesive. We followed the directions and had no problems-Tom
