Although I have not run a Fisher Boat yet, I am impressed with their complete line of boats. They all have a lot of value for the money. They came as a package with a lot of standard features that are options on most boats. In the Aluminum line I am impress with the Hawk series which are some of the widest boats in their class.
Check them out I think you will like what you see.

As I've stated before, I believe that many posters here love their boats even if they have problems but I've had boats (including Fishers) that I hated. I've now got a Fisher Hawk 160 FS and as Mike J. stated it "fishes big" for a 16 footer, 85" beam and lots of depth. I've had the 99 boat for a year and a half and just upgraded to a 75 Merc. 4-stroke. The boat runs about 40 MPH with 2 passengers and gear. The 4-stroke will go forever with the 30 gallon tank and the rig trolls like a dream. All welded hull appears very strong and takes the waves very well. About the only things that I don't like about it are the small rod box and lack of storage. I guess you can't have everything in a 16 foot rig. The boat weighs about 1100 pounds, heavy for a 16' but light enough to tow behind my Explorer with ease. E-mail if you have any specific questions.

I bought the 17 ft hawk with a 90 merc.like the boat alot. It runs about 42mph loaded down (speedometer). I like the ride high and dry. It came fully equiped with trolling motor 3 batteries, 3 seats,am-fm cassete a middle of the road locater, and the dealer threw in an aftermarket cover. Also I think there trailers are very well built some of the best i have seen in a rig of this class.
Good luck shopping and no matter what you choose if you take care of it and don't abuse it,it will give you many years of enjoyment.

Well.....did my shopping when I wanted a new boat and looked real hard at the Fisher's. Two things that kept me from buying, and they're probably petty items....1) Floor space is decreased by the angled gunnels which allow gussetting of the side hull to strengthen the boat, and 2) Aluminum floor which here in summer will end up getting awfully hot. Not unusual to fish striper boils in lakes when temps reach over 115°F. The carpet adhesive is at risk at those temps as are my little tootsies!! Other than those two things, I was ready to buy one of the Avenger Sport 19's. The 3.0 liter I/O is a helluva deal at $15,999. Good luck to your friend.
