Has anyone experienced problems with their MapCreate 5 software not displaying the map? I get the application to load up and can communicate with the MMC's but I can't get it to display the map on my desktop. I even get the pop-up text boxes to show the labels (i.e. highway, canal, etc) in the background. All I get in the map window is a bunch of garbage and pieces of my desktop.
I assume there must be a conflict with my graphics driver (Rage Pro Turbo AGP) but I don't know for sure. The Lowrance tech support pretty much blew me off on this one.
Any suggestions would be appreciated.
A couple ideas that might help
1. Go to the website of the vendor who makes that video card (ATI) and make sure you are using the latest driver, if not, download and install.
2. Try using a lower resolution such as 480x600 and specify a lower number of possible colors to display.
3. If none of this helps you can try installing your video card as a "standard vga" card, you will have very limited display options, but if it still doesn't work you can probably figure the problem isn't the video card.
My copy of Map Create sometimes, errrr, make that often, stalls on the "loading map data" screen at startup. If I leave it alone, have the cdrom in the tray, and don't start clicking on anything, it usually seems to finish loading...eventually.
It also seems to help if you don't have a lot of other things running, programs, systray items etc.
The software seems a little buggy to me. Good luck

LAST EDITED ON Apr-16-01 AT 06:36PM (CST)[p]The manual says that the maps take a lot of ram, so close everything you dont need on start up.The more maps you install the faster the program runs.I hit ctrl+alt+delete to close stuff that I wasnt using.SEems to run fine.If that doesnt work return the program. Good luck!!
