I just bought a used Sylvan 17' Pro Select with a 115 hp Mariner. The problem is when I'm moving at high speed I lose the bottom on my locator. I have a Lowrance LMS160. At about 25 mph I get the reading but at 45 I lose it. I get a numerical reading but I lose the bottom picture. I have lowered it and it still did not help, I know I must be getting bubbles. Any help on the position of the transducer would be most welcomed.

Thank

Rick

Do you have the transducer pointing slightly forward and below the line of the bottom of the boat?

Hi Rick,

Yes I do, I've moved it point wise and up and down a little each time and can't find the magic spot. I've been told that's were the dealer recommends it.

Make sure the transducer is not located directly behind one of the numerous keelsons on the hull of that brand of boat. Those will deflect water away from the transducer so you cannot get good , constant reading.
