LAST EDITED ON Apr-17-00 AT 06:31PM (CST)[p]I noticed the aft, port and starboard mooring line cleats were loose on my Lund 1900 Pro-V (one year old). As I went to tighten them I found that the nuts were in direct contact with the plywood backing under the gunnels.
The nuts are of the Ny-Lock variety but were just pulling through the wood. I fashioned backing plates and all should be OK now.
The forward cleats are tight. Not being able to access the nuts for these I can't tell how they are attached under the gunnels.
I'm disappointed that a boat of this "quality"/cost doesn't have a more secure/permanent mounting system i this area. Maybe it was an oversight on my unit and others are assembled differently.
Maybe you Lund owner want to check how the cleats on your boats are secured and take a few minutes to improve the situation as I have done. An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure.
Maybe one or more of you Lund dealers would like to drop a line in the "suggestion box" at Lund if this is normal construction.
Just a heads up.
