Sick of it!
04-17-2001, 04:00 PM
I had the great pleasure of spending Easter weekend fishing the fox river with my 10 year old boy. We found a nice spot where the walleye were hitting. There was another angler in a boat about 80 feet from us enjoying the day as well, when all of a sudden here comes this darn champion walleye boat with the nawaa number on the engine roars right between our two boats. He swamped us and almost took out the other boat as well. I should post his number because I am sick of you tourney people endangering the lives of others, just for your own $%^#$$# enjoyment.
I mean what a way to show my boy the art of fishing.
Give me a %$^&^*%^&&$& break

Sick of it!!!!

LAST EDITED ON Apr-17-01 AT 06:22PM (CST)[p]Turn whom ever it was in. This type of activity is not tolerated within the network of all tournament anglers. We get enough bad press and don't need stupid press. It may not have been a tournament angler. If you and your son where endangered by the drivers recklessness there is good cause to address this to the tournament rules commitee for reveiw.

please do post the number, i think anyone, if it does happen, deserves to be known. not just tourney boaters, because believe me, any given weekend on millelacs it can be a number of people acting like that.

so dont try to single him out and call all tourney boaters that way, because it is all kinds.

If you got his number, and you really were swamped, what is stopping you from calling NPAA, you sound like your really ticked off and well you should be, either report the thug or quit whinning, this sort of thing happens to me all the time as I fish lake Geneva in southeast Wisc. With all the pleasure boats and water skiers and people with 30ft. boats that dont have a clue as to what safe boating is. A 1oz. lindy weight placed in the right spot, at the right veloicty gets there att. real quick if they want to persue it farther Im game, havent had a taker yet. CALL NPAA.

If a boat with a NPAA number went blasting by and swamped you, call NPAA in Pierre, SD. Let them investigate. The boat could have been driven by the owner and member. It could have been loaned out to a friend or somebody considering buying it. It could have been purchased by someone else, and the number was still on the boat. It is so easy to blame tournament anglers for whatever reason. But, stupid boating deserves to be handled with the authorities. I would contact your local warden and NPAA. If that behavior was observed in a tournament, reputable directors would kick that person out.

I agree completely! Report the offense so we can have some accountability for thier actions. That's part of the deal too... making sure that NPAA members are doing the right thing.

Just because someone has a sticker on their boat doesn't qualify them to go running through your fishing space and create a problem.

The NPAA is ALL ABOUT making sure these folks' actions are monitored. Call Charlie @ NPAA and report it.

I've been there. But it's not any one particular group there are stupid people all over. Some are tournament fishermen, most are not. Please report this challenged person to the local authorities as well as the tournament reps. We all will be better off without these yahoo's endangering us. Don't get sick of it do something about it.
Please don't group all tournament professionals with this particular person. I don't fish tournaments, but I was offended that you grouped all of them based on that experience. Remember there are many good poeple for every bad one.

peacefull waters to you.

If this person acted in the manner in which you say he did, by all means submit your complaint to the NPAA. The main purpose of the NPAA is to promote the sport of fishing in a "Professional and Sportsman-like" fashion. So any misconduct by a registered member should not go un-reported. I also agree with some of the other posts, that it is highly unfair to stereotype all "Tourney fisherpeople"(Men and Women) as being like this one "bad apple"(not that there is only one). The truth is, many of us are very kind and corteous 'ambassadors' to the sport. This is what the NPAA stands for. I am from Green Bay, and know that this time of year the Fox River can be quite congested; which is all the more reason this type of behavior should not be tolerated.

Here's an interesting observation on the "chain". I have no idea where you were fishing. Our local river was muddy and high so I elected to run over to Lake Michigan via highway 173. As I passed over a couple of bridges on the chain, I couldn't help but notice several boats fishing right in the middle of the channel and blocking everything with other boaters trying to get through. I just shake my head every time I get near the place. It's an absolute zoo that I avoid at all cost

what a scarry story....you were swamped??????actually down in
the water with a 10 year old boy?????and you didnt call the
cops, the coast guard, npaa, god and a hit man to kill the
sob. and you dont post the nawa number on walleye central?

its kinda funny how these horror stories usually involve
3 basics...quietly enjoying nature, with children and , of
course catching lots of fish while reading the bible
until satan in a walleye tourny boat comes along and dishes out a near death experiance laughing all the way.

if this really happened to you, i share your anger. but since
you didnt even bother to turn the guy in (and it would have
been simple to do) to make sure he doesnt do it to someone else
i doubt its true at all. just another cheap shot.

oh well

In my opinion, I would rather have them blast by me wide open than trying to be nice and plow a wake 2ft high. From what I've seen those 200 horse boat usually don't leave a wake at all, just a little ripple. Now I don't mean that they should be dangerously close. Next time you slow down and think you are being polite, look at the size of wake your boat is producing compared to when your boat is on plane.

If this person acted in a manner that endangerd the lives of you and your child, why did you not report this person to the police/Coast gaurd/Wardens?

Posting this on the WC message board solves nothing. You need to contact the correct people. I am sick of this type of bashing. Everytime I am swamped by a water ski boat or a Jet ski, I do not post "Im sick of It" on a water skiing message board.

Sick of it is right. If this alleged tourney boat did'nt have a NPAA decal on it,you would have never left a post on this site. What if a plain every day angler with a new Champion boat and a big old 200 horse(no NPAA decal) drove by and "swamped" you.Would you have left us a post saying those darn un-professional non-tourney guys are endangering me life.I don't think so.You just personaly are anti-tournament and are trying to cause problems.take it somewhere else. You sound very angry,I think if this was true you would have called the authorities.Give us this NPAA number. If I'm wrong I apologize but this doe's sound very fishy. One bad tournament angler dos'nt make them all bad, just as one bad non-tournament angler dos'nt either.

listen ladies and gentlemen, he has not, and will not post again because i am learning it is bogus as well. thought i would try to be "diplomatic" in my first post, but this is a prime example of someone with a chip slinging mud.

curt you hit it on the head with the 3 factors - they always bring it in to play don't they.

He left out one thing, his blind, three legged dog Scruffy who can't swim.I have never had my boat swamped by another, I'm guessing his is quite small(the boat)maybe he's a little jealous of tourney style boats or something.I don't mean that to sound arrogant by any means,I sure don't have the biggest and best boat on the water.I just don't appreciate being labled as a bad person because I happen to like fishing tournaments.

nice that you try to turn things around!

you have a attitude! Why would you second guess the guy.he's pissed about it but dont blindly support the idiots out there who drive like that! Thank you

Nice post Curt! I totally agree. I doubt that we will hear anything further from "Sick of it" in terms of an actual NPAA number. Sounds like he's trolling for a cyber-battle.

i am totally against careless driveing of any boat any time,
especially in and around packs of boats. and you dont have
any business telling me that i support such idiotic activity.

this guy is making up this whole story, his boat was not
swamped by a champion boat comming by him at high speed.
i dont support this kind of activity either....do you?

I will stand with Curt on this one. I had serious doubts right away. Sounds like a made up story to me as well ment to aggrivate people using heart felt items. THINK ABOUT PEOPLE! Any one of us would have taken this to the next level without a hesitation. SWAMPED with a 10 year old boy...and only thought about turning him in???? Common! Where did the "story" get fuzzy for you?

To "Sick of it" If he did do this then shame on him, but if you did nothing then shame on you, but if we believe this story then shame on us.

Anybody else notice that the reply to Curt was again submitted by an anonymous person. Why don't they have the guts to put their name and reputation on the line like most of us do. Any member can see my name and point of origin. If they weren't making up stories they'd sign it properly and stand behind it. You may not always agree with me, or me with you, but at least we don't hide behind the scenes and intentionally insite the masses with this kind of krap.

P.S. Hope they had their lifepreservers on!

Don't single out tourny fisherman. I think anyone that has spent time on Gull, or 'Tonka knows the danger. It's one, guys who don't have respect or ability to drive. Second and most important the two factors earlier with a 25-30ft. cruising boat. The donzi's the scarabs all of them. These guys like to show off there exspensive boat by driving very close to you at full throttle. Guys, little advice if your going full throttle and you notice a boat up ahead. Don't let off and create a bigger wake this does not help.
