We're finally going to try Vermillion after all of these years of driving by it on the way to Canada. We'll be there the 3rd week of June hoping that the Walleyes might be on the bite. I'm only guessing that it might be a shoreline bite vs. reef at this time of the year, but I'm not sure. Can anyone offer some help or tips? I'd appreciate it. Thanks.

Vermilion should be going for walleyes, 17"-20". You will probably find your better fish on the main lake reefs and flats. Try Big Bay for sure. Muskies will be going in the bays along weed lines and out on the shallow reefs near marker buoys. (Black Mepps Muskie Killer with silver blade). Smallies will be around docks and also moving out to the main lake reefs. Bring your camera, you'll love it!

Where are you staying on the lake? I've been fishing there for 25 years, and will be glad to point you to some areas.

(Hopefully the mayfly hatch will not have started -- you're cutting it close).

Also, there is a large email group you can join (free). To subscribe, send an empty email message to "vermilion-subscribe@yahoogroups.com". At least a couple of Vermilion guides are in that group.

PS: Vermilion only has one "L"

Good point, on the smallies.

Stovetop Reef ought to be really cooking about then! (Lame pun intended!)
