I was looking at the yamaha v-max and I am wondering what everybody's opinion is on it over lets say a mecr or a evinrude. Just looking for some insight. Thanks

Well, I just boat a new rig and bought a 200 Opti. But, I bought it because it was a non-current new and a great deal. My choice would have been the Yamaha VMAX if the situation was different. As long as you are talking the HPDI! I think the reliability factor is higher!

I've had the chance to run all of the major outboard (and not so major) brands during my lifetime, and all have their capabilities. Trying to narrow performance down to a specific brand is difficult because you have different boats, etc. With that said I must confess that I'm duly impressed with the Yamaha 225 V-Max thats on the back of my Skeeter ZX 2050. It's a great combination, and hard for me to say it's the motor alone, but WOW does that rig pop up out of the hole like it came from a cannon. Top end is right around 60mph, and plenty fast for me.
Tight lines.

I just recently purchased a 200 hpdi and I am very impressed so far. It is every quiet and I am impressed with the low fuel consumption at top end. I have a Lund 1900 and the hole shot is great and top end is about 54 mph. So far, so good.
