I was wondering is there much difference between the Pro-v and Mr. pike? Am looking at both, with a 135 or 150 hp.
Thanks

Max hp on Mr.Pike is 135. Max on the 1775 is 150.
I liked the layout and room better on the Pike
I wish I had the bigger windshield like on the Pro-V. Look real close at both of them. I think they should have named it the Pro-Mr.Pike 17. For me it was about 1 day and I knew which boat I wanted. Good Luck<;{{{{{<<( Mr.Pike

Mr. Pike,
Curious, what motor did you go with, and how does the boat handle in waves and such. Is there enough room for a kicker etc...
Thanks

Bought the 125 Merc. Should have went with the 135 Opti. Don't get me wrong, the 125 really pushes this hull. Light load 50mph. gps. Loaded about 47-48. Seems to handle the waves fine. Been out in 3-4 footers last season and it was o.k. As far as room, plenty for jigging and more than enough for trolling. Boat is almost 8' wide so there is plenty of room for kicker( you could put one on each side of the boat if you wanted!)
Really, look close at the pike and the 1775.I'll be curious as to which you choose! Both are nice. The only reason I talk about wanting the 135 is because my last boat ran 62mph. I keep pushing the throttle down trying to get MORE SPEED. Hard to break the habit!LOL Let us know<;{{{{<<( Mr.Pike

The Pro-V has a stronger hull and a deeper V, it will handle the waves better.
If it is for pleasure, go with the Mr Pike, if going to be pounding wave the Pro-V is a must.
My fishing partner has a 1775 with a 115hp works fine. The 135hp is good for the Pro-V and the 150hp would fly. I have a 150EFI on a 1800 pro-v it goes 53mph.
Good luck

This is simply not true. The hulls of the MrPike and the Pro-V are identical. The substructure and everything is the same. The difference in horsepower rating comes solely from a marketing decision. The principle difference is in the interior layout. The boat more than holds its own in waves, it rides like a bigger boat than it really is. You will enjoy either one of these boats.

LAST EDITED ON May-16-00 AT 04:55PM (CST)[p]I wasn't sure so I just checked the 2000 Lund catalog and compared the tin on the Mr Pike 17 and the 1775 Pro-V Tiller, here it is:
Thickness (freeboard/bottom)
Pro-V .080/.100 Mr. Pike .063/.080
Twin Plate Thickness
Pro-V .100 Mr. Pike .080
About the same length, the Pro-V is slightly deeper and the Mr Pike is 2" wider. Can't share any personal experience with either (I like the full windshield of my 1700 Pro Sport), but those are the specs from the book. I would guess the heavier guage aluminum (and associated weight) also has something to do with the max HP rating.
Good luck with whatever you choose.

They are not identical. The post you reply to is 100% accurate.
That is a very tough decision to make. When the 17 Mr pike first came out it was alot less expensive than the Pro v now it seems like if you rig them comarably they are only 1500 to 2000 less than a 1775 Pro v. My fishing partner bought a 99 pike W/115 merc in 99(nice boat)but it seems a little tinny in a chop compared to my 2000 1775 w/125 Merc.I have fished out of both they are both real nice boats but we both agree the pro v is worth the extra money ,nicer finish inside ,better seats , baitwell, battery indicator etc. He will be trading the pike off next year for a Pro v. THEY ARE NOT THE SAME BOATS .

The pro-v is 2" narrower than the Pike, 1" longer though. Is the narrowness noticeable? During use. How is this boat with 3 6' guys fishing from it?
Unless the boats have been changed fr 2000 they are not identical. The ProV's are Lunds tournament series rigs. They are built stronger and more durable for harder use. I am not sure Lund uses the I-beam construction as the skeleton on the Mr. Pike but it is used in all Pro V's

I just bought a Mr. Pike this spring. I have a 90 hp merc and get about 40 mph with 2 people. With three adult males I was going about 38 mph. Never has a problem getting on plane. As noted on this forum awhile back, anything more than a 90 hp is just to satisfy the speed demons.
I had my boat out this past weekend. No problem handling 3-4 ft waves and I had no problem fishing 3 out of it. I have a large windshield on my Mr. Pike that was factory ordered and installed.
It is true there are some structural differences in regards to alum. thickness, length, depth, weight, hp rating, and width. Besides these differences it is just bells and whistles. Same hull design, structural support, and warranty as the Pro-V. If Lund felt by having a smaller thickness of alum. would make the boat less structurally sound or wear out quicker, I am sure there would be a warranty difference.
If you are a multi-species fisherman like I am, I would go with the Mr. Pike. If you just walleye fish the 1775 would be a better choice.
Good luck in choosing a boat. I believe whatever boat you choose you will be happy and satisfied. Just make sure it meets your needs and wants.

DLS, I'm really interested in the larger windshield. Curious as to if that was an option presented by the dealer? or was that something you asked for as kind of a "custom". After I looked at the console a bit, it seems to look like the large windshield could be added. Just need to add the little screws in the right places? Sound right or am I way off base? Thanks, <;{{{{<<( Mr.Pike
Smitty ,
How do ike the 1700 Pro Sport ? What engine are you running ?
Thanks
Pat
It was not an option presented by the dealer. The dealer stated they ordered all the Mr. Pike's with a larger windshield. It must be an option though if the dealer can order them with a larger windshield from Lund.

It's been a very good boat for me. I run a 90HP Evinrude and a 9.9 4-stroke kicker. Runs about 39-40 at WOT (ran about 42-43 before adding the kicker). Other than a couple nuisance items like difficulty getting to the oil reservior for the motor, I don't have a bad thing to say about the boat.
Actually you can get all the details as it's for sale in the WC Classifieds under Iowa (Dave Smit). I am stepping up to the 1800 Fisherman due to passenger capacity when we take friends and the kids out cruising. Mine is rated for 6 and we have 4 adults and 4 young kids, and I doubt the DNR cares if 4 are small or not. If only I could replace that darn plate or flip that 6 upside down it would be a LOT cheaper. Fishing I never have more than 3 anyway so it works great. Have had lots of lookers but it seems everyone is looking for a Pro-V. I wouldn't give up my full windshield for the world.
