Been looking at buying a new boat. Also looked at used boats. Have had a plain jane 16' boat for quite a few years, and am ready to step up to something nicer. Just wondering since I see alot of 1-2 year old boats for sale if the best strategy is to buy new and trade every 2 years like a vehicle, to stay up to date, or buy for the long haul. Thanks in advance for the input.

Buy the boat you are most happy with today, that you can afford without your wife divorcing you. Live with it, use it, enjoy it, and worry down the road what you want to do with it. You may find you'll end up so enamoured of it you'll never want to sell it, or, you may find the "upgrade urge" upon you. IMHO, the latter is more likely than the former, so the only issue at that point is $$$$$$$$$$$....

Make your buying decision today based on today's needs and wants, and leave tomorrow to tomorrow.

Good fishing, and enjoy your new boat, whatever it is...
