Nothin uglier than a nice boat on a rusted out trailer....any suggestions for trailer rustproofing?
Also how would you keep a new galvinized trailer looking good?
You answered your first question with your second question. In answer to your second question, just wash it with warm soapy water once in a while. I bought my galvanized trailer in June '94 and it still looks as good as new. It may not be as "pretty" as some of the painted ones out there, but it looks alot better than the 3 year old painted one I traded in under my last boat!

thinking about having mine sprayed with that spray in bed you can get in alot of colors now and it seems to hold up well. at least in the beds of trucks and as an undercoating should work on the boat trailer too

Once rust has started, the only thing to do is expose the "tainted" metal, apply a conversion coating, (usually phosphoric acid) and then repaint the area. Commercially available rust preventer/converters seem to do a fine job. Storing your trailer under the cover of a garage or shed or barn, etc.....goes a long way to help preserve the painted beauty of your trailer. Good luck!
