Hey for ****z and giggles....
I thought I would see if anyone still uses these jigs?
I used them in my younger years when I started jigging for walleyes. And you know what? I had some real good luck with them.
But, with the invention of powerbait etc. I have not put one
on the line in years...
So, are they still a great option? Or?
Thanks for your time.

We still use them quite a bit around the central New York area. Onieda lake walleyes really seem to respond to them, especially from the opener( May 5) to early june, depending on water temp. Seem to work better in the cooler waters of spring.

I love Caps rock-a-roos, still use them often. I guy in the town I grew up in makes them in his garage. He said In-fisherman used to by 1000's a year to use. I still see them in their magazine once in a while. They are definately alive and well.

I have always used bucktail jigs, and I will continue to do so. Whenever the bite gets tough, I will go to my 1/8 or 1/4 oz. bucktail jigs. (My all time favorite color is white) They can be fished bare or tipped with minnow, crawler, or leech.
Personally, I would not go fishing without them.

I fish bare hair jigs religiously on the Mississippi River. October thru freeze up is usually the best time for them but they take fish throughout the year. In fact, I`m in the process of writing a piece for WC Mag on the subject right now. Not sure which issue Kaz will put it in. Watch for it. Beav

There are days on the Mississippi when a hair jig can't be beat. I tie my own bucktail and feather jigs and often find feathers to be the best of all but less durable than the bucktails.

I am glad to here it!
I will definitely see if this (secret weapon) I have stored
in my arsenal will make other in the boat jealous on a tight bite.
Thanks for all the replies!
