MWC championship idea!

Hello,
I have an idea and i have heard other people suggest this. It has to do with the M.W.C. championship, and i thought that if they decided to combine last and this year championship makers for the rescheduled tournament that they should do it but, have it like pro amature. The way I thought this could work would be to have each two partner team split up, "that way if the same person made the championship each year but with different partners each person that made it could fish." I thought that spliting the 2 person team up and having each one draw for a amature fisherman and take them out in each persons seperate boat like some other tournaments, this way it would be fair and would also be a community event and I believe that there would be a larger show up at the weigh-in, because of the amature fisherman. There would be a money "pot" for the amatures that pay for fishing like an entry fee, so they could win money and also there would be the payout for the qualifiers for the championship. I believe that this would be FAIR, and would be a way they could do the championship!! Just my thoughts please let me know yours!!!!!

GREAT IDEA THE ONLY PROBLEM IS THAT THERE ARE ALOT OF TOURNEYS GUYS THAT SELL THERE BOATS IN OCTOBER AND IT MIGHT BE TOUGH FOR THEM TO GET A BOAT, BUT USUALLY ONE PARTNER HAS A BOAT MOST OF THE TIME. IT WOULD WORK PERFECTLY IF THE MWC WOULD SUPPLY BOATS LIKE THEY DID IN 1 PAST CHAMPIONSHIP. WHY DON'T YOU CONTACT THE MWC ANS SEE WHAT THEY THINK ABOUT IT JAKE YOU MIGHT BE ON TO SOMETHING THAT COULD WORK.

This is a great idea, but will it work? As a Championship qualifier last year but not this, I would love to be involved in a tournament of this type. It may be tough getting guys together for this year from last though since most probably already have other tournaments and vacations planned. I think that this would be something to look into with future tourneys though. Something would almost have to be established before qualification so all teams go into it knowing what the situation will be. You will always have some that will object; its the American way. p.s. - I think that this type of format would help other tournament anglers come to know each other a bit...there is never anything wrong with making new friends/acquaintences in the fishing world.

How would this be fair to the angler that qualified both years compared to someone that only qualified once? It wouldn't !

I think both tournaments should go on as planned. Make it a shore fishing event. Everyone would be happy. Those without boats need not worry. One new rule, every half hour you have to help the community sand bag. Every sand bag you carry would add a pound to your weight. I'm sure the people along the Miss. would appreciate your help and remember walleye tournament fisherman in a positive way. Nature has a stange way of testing us. Be patient. Let the folks at MWC make their decisions. If it works out for you fine, if it doesn't fine. Just thank God that your house is not underwater. Those people are using boats for something other than fishing. Give thanks for what you have.

That could be one problem but that would have to be worked out! If anyone has any ideas on what to do for that case RESPOND PLEASE.

Frist of all your idea of breaking up championship teams is absolutely wrong!!
The MWC is a team structured circuit! It is NOT a pro am event!
If we wanted to fish a pro am circuit we would fish the PWT. We fished the MWC as a team. We qualified as a team. We will fish the championship as a team!! We have absolutely NO NONE
ZERO ZIP interest in fishing anything other than the ORIGINAL team format!!!! Period the end absolutely no other way than what we legally qualified for in the first place!!
The only thing worse than your idea ,is to have two championship
events in one!!!!!!!!!!!!!! We all qualified to fish a 50 TEAM
championship on pools 3 and 4. NOT a 100 team event! It would be
unfair to all and probably illegal to combine them..

PS "The-walleye-1" Did you qualify for the championship???

The_walleye_1 - you want a solution to the problem? Let Pete run it. We have arm chair quarterbacks, now we have arm chair tournament directors. I too am curious, have you qualified for the championship? You do not appear to have the concept down very well what the MWC is about. Everyone has thier ideas on how to "fix" the MWC. Just think, if Pete would have listened to everyone and not posponed the championship we all would have been fishing from shore.

I think its a great idea.But let the team fish as a team the first day and then put 2 days of who knows who would be your partner to luck of the draw.Not only would this give a intresting twist to the championship but mabey it would put the fun back into it.Just a thought think of all the differnt senerios that could happen if at the end of each day fishing there were cash payed to the best finishing teams.Imagine a team being on good fish the first day and then loseing your partner to a team in last.The partner would feel obligated to help the new boat out or he or she could lose out on that days purse.
I know I will be bashed by the die hard M W C teams but heck in todays world the more twists and turns the more intresting it makes things so go ahead guys have at me .

I just gave the idea I didn't say that it had to work, and i am glad i put this post out because now people know what others think about it. Thanks for all of the replies and i thank you all for your insight.

You've gotta love this site.
Some interesting ideas on the MWC Championship.
I agree with those who feel two championships should not be combined into one. I don't think that's fair to any of us who have spent the time and money trying to qualify for two chances at an MWC title.
It follows that if two championships are to be combined, I'd like to know ASAP. My partner and I are already qualified from last year and off to a good start this year. If we have nothing to gain by qualifying this year, we probably wouldn't have signed up to fish the tournaments that are 400 miles away for us.
Legally, I doubt Wildlife Forever could combine two championships for that reason.
Anyway, I'm intrigued by the thought of breaking up teams and including amateurs. That wouldn't be my first choice since my partner and I started this because we enjoy fishing as a team, but obviously we will do whatever the MWC mandates. We all need to remember that it's their show, too.
I also have concerns about equipment in the event that teams are split up. My partner owns our tournament boat and we've shared expenses on most of our trolling rigs, giving us enough quality equipment to outfit one boat, not two.
