I am pulling a boat to lake erie for the first time and would like to know if ther are any special regs I should know about
do you need a marine radio or will a cb work?
ANY KNOWLEGE WOULD BE HELPFULL
You are not required to have a marine radio, but it is the best investment you can make if you are planning to fish it much. the cb radio can help, but you get too much skip, and very few people use them here. if you have any questions give me a call, but i am sure that you will get a lot of responses too. as far as special reg, you are required to have, distress flag, flares, or a flare gun, with up to date shells, and flares. anchor and plenty of rope, fire extinguisher, life vests, bilge pump(or a manual bailing devise) whistle(or horn), throwable device, Cushion, or life ring. and plenty of gas. good luck and good fishin.

While it's not required, a MARINE radio is a must on any big body of water. I have sent many days on the great lakes and never had to put up my antena. But the day will come when you will really need a radio to either get help for yourshelf or to assit another boater in need. This time of year the water is to cold, and the wheather to unpredictable to be messing around on the lake without a MARINE radio.
Have a great trip
