just got the rail mounts for my 620 and i know this is gonna sound really stupid, but the flip top has to be manually released correct? was reading, and saw on their site, where they say all you do is grab butt of pole, push down, and slide rod forward. do this and the top release is still in way. i am assuming that you have to "flip" open the release and then do the aforementioned. anyone care to step up and help a RAM newbie? thanx in advance.

Your right Jeff if you do use the lever you will have to unhook it first. But believe me you won't need to lock the rod in the holder. I never lock mine in and have never had a ploblem. But with the cost of equipment now days its nice to have the lock there if you want it. Good luck you will love them!!

The retainer lever is placed in a manner that if you grab the rod with your right hand then your thumb is all that is needed to flip the retainer clip over the holder. I find it a very convenient and well thought out rod holder system.

I use RAM rod holder systems with large E-Glass flathead & channel cat rods that can launch like a rocket in other holders, and I have complete confidence in the RAM systems.

From walleye rods to very large special purpose rods and reels they all have fit very well with optimum convenience of use for me.

thanx guys, it is what i thought but wanted your input as well. i got them because they look sturdy, can be put away when not used to keep clutter down, and have heard nothing but good things about them.

once again thank you, it has helped.

I've been looking for these same mounts and holders for my 617 w/ rails. Where did you find them ? Online would be great since I live in the sitcks. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Brad
