Mille Lacs Red Door Tourny

I would like to fish a tournament on Mille Lacs this year, and was curious what thoughs were on the Red Door Tournament. Any info (cost, availability, etc) you could provide would be great. Also a contact person whould be much appreciated. Any other thoughts for a tournament first timer??

Fished it last year, I believe it was Sept 8 & 9. I am not sure the date this year. It is alot fun. After day one, they cook up a nice big
steak dinner to all of the tourney entries (Entry covers dinner).
If you are lucky enough to bag a fish or two over 28", you will sitting real good. Last year Day one, we had 40+ mph winds and very stormy weather. Day two, the lake layed down nicely.
We went for broke looking for some big fish to win
and came close with a couple 27"+ fish. That's the way it goes.
Will be there this year as well.

I think you are talking about the Myr Mar tourney. The Red Door tourney is like the 2nd weekend of july. Call Fred at the Red door for more info or maybe it's on up-north.com.

it should be the first week in Sept i would assume again. the weather was completely goofy last year, hot, windy, pure downpour day 2 and a TON of bugs. we had 4 fish the first day that qualified, and like the post b4, i think at least a dozen from 20 - 26", but sure fun catching them. second day i had the biggest walleye of my life on mille lacs up by the boat w/ 10' snell, pouring rain and check the Vanish line post about the luck. that fish would have vaulted us into the top 5 alone. but those are the breaks and will be back again this year.

another really good tourney on Mille Lacs is Nittis Hunters Point, good payout in this one. got 7th last season and made almost 2 grand. that tourney is i believe 22nd and 23rd of June. both are run first class and a great way to get involved in some competetive fishing. usually around 120 teams in both tourneys. best of luck.

Red Door tourney is on 13th and 14th of July this year. It has been changed to a Friday\Saturday Tourney this year. I believe it is still a $200 entry fee. Nomally 100-130 boats. Fred puts on a good tourney with alot of good guys to fish with. The Door's # is 218-678-3686. The one in Sept. that has been talked about above is Phil's Myr Mar Tourney.

thanx dakota, needed a refresher on that. phils is in sept, you are right. i like the friday/sat thing, it seems to make more of the weekenders happier and we have slightly less pressure, just like how hunters point and wave wackers are not on sat/sunday. thanx again and will have to contact fred.
