ok, just a poll out there, what does most everyone use for their applications. live bait rigs (including snell), jigging, cranks, etc... seems the boards are kinda slow and thought all could get involved in this and be rpoductive as well.

i prefer the tourny Berkly in 8lb on rigs w/ 10lb as snells. 8lb or 6lb XT on my jig poles, and 8lb fireline on cranks. i realize there are always deviants of this, but just looking for general consensus out there. also leaving out boards, lead core because that is a little more concrete.

hope to be on the water soon, gonna use all my wrist strength on this darn computer instead of rippin lips!!

I use FireLine on just about all my applications. I find the sensitivity is unmatched. I use 12lb Mono for leaders on my Jigs, leaders 10lb mono on my rigs.

The important part is tying the correct knot while using Fire Line. There are only a hand full of good knots that work well with FireLine.

For rigging, jigging, and casting crankbaits I use FireLine.

For trolling I use mono.

Me jigging - mono trying high vis this year 6#
Wife jigging - Fireline 8# test high vis
rigging, planers and trolling - fireline 14#test smoke

BUT have read alot of people are switching to Power Pro in 30# test for trolling cranks because that diameter line very closely follows the dive curves printed in Precision Trolling book. With the fireline I have to make adjustments to the dive curve or go with past practice.

FireLine for most everything but shallow trolling and certain casting situations. For those I like 20lb XT.

Cranking-10/4 Fireline
Bottom Bouncing-12lb mono XT
Pitching Jigs-6lb mono
Pitching Cranks-8lb Mono
Lindy Rig-6lb mono

If I had some extra cash for extra reels I would also like to have a line counter with 10lb mono for shallow cranking. And one with leadcore and another with segmented leadcore. Just cant afford 8 line counters. Here in ND we can use two rods.

Mono (Trilene XT) for everything except I use a superline for Dipsey Divers. Haven't found a use for fireline yet. I tried it last year for trolling and wasn't happy with the results. Went back to Xt for trolling cranks on boards and couldn't be happier with it.

Not to put a damper on this subject, but line types used really don't mean a whole lot unless they are qualified with what type of rod being used on, how deep you are fishing that particular method, current or no current, wind or no wind, how much weight your rigging or jigging with, etc, etc, etc......if all these type factors aren't considered, it really does misconstrue information to those who don't understand the differences. Just some food for thought.......

When you talk about rigging, do you mean using a downrigger??? If not, what does rigging mean. Need info. Thanks.
