OK,
I see that there is a WalleyeCentral get-together on Erie, and one being set up out west..How about one here in Minnesota...truly the walleye central?
If there is one where is it and if not, how about settin one up?
Any ideas?

Eye second that, how about at MilleLacs I know some resort owners that would help.Maybe we could add a one day tournament as well.Great idea!

Count me in. Milacs would be fun, but weather is too difficult to predict in advance. A lake or area with options for inclement weather would be my choice. Also, maybe in late July. This would give some time for planning as well as being between most scheduled tourneys - I think. Sounds like fun. Couldn't make the ice fishing event due to moving so would welcome a fun event.

How about Leech lake or Winnie? Both have good walleye populations and can be fun to fish. Also, there is a little more sheltered water than Mille Lacs for those of us that have boats smaller than the Queen Mary.

I love Whitefish Chain, go there a lot. But it is real busy and quite expensive. Tons of pleasure boaters and people who don't know the rules of the water.

Winnie or Leech would get my vote. I'd love to make it if time works for me.

Lake Pepin might be cool. Lots of places to fish, lots of hotel and ramps.

Sounds like a blast. Leech would be great for me. I grew up and currently live about 55 miles from there and can you believe that I have never fish that wonderful body of water. What a better excuse to get out there. Let's do it!!

I still think that MilleLacs is the best bet, good central location and great fishing. How about the weekend after the wave Wacker tourney?Good weather in mid-June too.

Leech, Cass or Winnie - has to be late July through mid September for me to attend.

I have one in the works. On LOTW in August. I had one on Mille Lacs in Feb., and had about 13 people attend. I was hoping to have many more for an open water get-together on LOTW.

I checked all the tourney schedules, and figured that late August was the best time. I have checked with several resorts around Wheelers Point (mouth of the Rainey) and there doesn't seem to be any problem with that time of year.

I have been waiting for some interest from several of my posts in Feb., and March, but didn't hear anything, so have been sitting back waiting for the season to start to re-post.

Seems there is interest, so give me a shout.....tbomn@walleyecentral.com

Don't get me wrong.I love LOTW. Only problems with that location is that typically late summer walleye fishing there is best out in the main lake basin or way out across Big Traverse Bay to the reefs. This doesn't lend itself well to those with not so big boats. Also, if it gets windy, the only place to fish is the river. Not that you can't catch any fish outside the gap (weather provided), just that it is pretty limited. Seems like a more centrally located spot would draw more folks. Just my two cents.....

If someone whats to move it some place else.."make it so". If someone else wants to put the time in, have at it. I took it upon myself to put together the winter fishing get-together on Mille Lacs @ Eddie's, it wouldn't hurt my feelings to let someone else put this one together.

TBO did a great job on the winter get together. There might not have been that many of us but it was sure fun. I know I'm game wherever it is held LOTW is the farthest for me but probably not for everyone else. I have never fished from a boat there.

I can tell you from experience that if you don't start very soon to organize this get-together, you will run out of time. To get everyone on the same page, set their schedules, and set up a resort, get commitments from participants...set up an agenda for the get-together, and organize the actual event you will need at least 6 to 8 weeks. First step....get someone to take the wheel, you'll need an active organizer. Good Luck

TBO - don't you live on or near Leech? Seems like that is the #1 choice for quite a few of the people. Ausust fishing there has been super for me every time but one extremely hot/still year.

Ron,
Actually, in the summer months I live in the Voyageurs National Park @ Crane Lake. For my money, that's my choice, but there isn't much choice there for lodging. If everyone wants to camp, then that presents several other complications. The best fishing on this body of water starts slowing down about the middle of July, first part of August. I would be interested in any lake, if someone was to put something together.

I would be glad to put it together if I lived in the area. I'm a MN native, but currently living in Arkansas, so anything north of Leech becomes more than a one day drive for me. Hope to do the Crane Lake thing myself in the future when I have more time. Trying to coordinate anything will take a few years off your life, as I'm sure you learned setting up the ice fishing get-together!

Leech works best for me but I would be interested in Winni. I have fished Leech but never winni. I spend alot of time in the walker area in the summer playing golf and fishing now and then. Later summer is a better so when a site is chosen, please keep it posted on the board.

I did not go for ice fishing because I gave that up since I have 3 boys 2months to 7 years. At least I can take my 7 and 4 year old out in the boat now and then.

Definately interested!

I do alot of fishing on Lake of the Woods thats where we live and just wanted to let you know that you don't always have to go out deep in August. A lot of people like to down rig that time of year and they do go out deep but That is not the only place to catch fish. You can usually find a good bite relatively close to the Rainy River. The last few years we have did extremely well by Morris Gap and along Pine Island which are both at the mouth of the Rainy. Just my two cents I guess.

you're the best joe!

this is an organizational nightmare, i am glad you are willing
to put the time into it.

as you well know, you will get alot of "you bets"...and "sign
me ups" until it comes time to send the deposits.

i hope you pick lake of the woods (for obvious reasons), but
am interested in other locations too..

you bet......sign me up...
