Concerned!

Has anyone heard from Sonny yet on what the game plan is for the May tournament at Lacrosse. As many of you know the river is at tragic levels right now and with the heavy rains this weekend and next week there doesn't look like their is much relief insight. For right now the river is closed to all river traffic until May 5,6,or7th, and those are just tenative dates. This is going to hamper adequate prefishing time. Flooded rivers pose many dangers: large pieces of floating debris can damage boats; dangerous eddies and undertows can make navigation difficult and capsize boats plus cold water temperatures can cause hypothermia to set in quickly if boats do capsize. I just think it would be nice to notify people a head of time if the tournament is going to be rescheduled, before people start leaving to go up there to prefish and find out their motel is under water.
So, go to operation walleye.com and ask Sonny yourself. Or call them. May is a long time off, anything can happen. By the way, it is only a tournament you may not be able to fish. You are not one of the 1000's that have fish swimming in their living rooms right now. Instead of going home if you want to pre fish, why not spend you pre fish time sand bagging?

We are monitoring the river constantly. Things can change quickly on a river system as we all know and we do not want to make a knee jerk decision to postpone the tournament at this time. Should we re-schedule the tournament, we will post the information here on Walleye Central and on our web site, plus personally call everyone that has entered the tournament.
Our prayers are with the the people of the River Valley and La Crosse.

Please try to empathize with the real situation on the Mississippi River valley. I find your post quite disconserting. How can you worry about nicking your boat on flotsam when 1000's of families are facing and living in severe hardship. Think.

There was no disrespect shown to affected families in the original post. The term "tragic' water levels was used, I don't understand where you feel this shows lack of empathy. The post was aking legimate questions, concerns. The flooding is not a freak act of nature, the families involved will have alot of work to do and are prepared for this possibilty annually. Luckily nobody has lost their life. Cancer is taking lives every minute of the day, Think.
