Trying to kill some time while I'm waitin gfor that ##### Mississipi River to get back to being fishable and was talking with a buddy of mine and thought i would ask if there is such a thing as a place where a guy can trade in his Lowrance X85 for something a little hightec. Like a new X15 w/gps instead of buying a new unit and pitch the other one

Had a Lowrance unit die on me and they wouldnt even allow me to upgrade (giving them the $ difference of course) to an x85 on the warranty. Had to take the same unit.

Hi Gilligan. Lets see, they would replace the unit with a similar, but not let you upgrade. That would be undercutting the dealer wouldn't it? Troller, you bought a unit and now that the new stuff is out you want someone to take your old unit and give you a new one. What would they do with a used locator. Not bashing you guys, but it was just a thought on my part. I agree it would be nice to be able to upgrade, especially when one fails and they want to replace it, but then in a perfect world, walleyes would come out of the tap water. Have a great day.

So let them do it thru my dealer. I got no problem with that. Give me the warranty in credit. I'll take that back to dealer I bought it from and add to it. Talked to a Lowrance rep at Cleveland show last year and he couldnt understand why they wouldnt do that.

I had a five year old Humminbird Paramount and I dropped it last year and broke the glass screen. It left a really pretty bunch of colors mixing together where the screen used to be. Humminbird could not repair it BUT they have a program that allowed me to get $100 trade in on a new unit if they could not repair the old unit.
Hence... I got $100.00 off another unit.

For the price of some of those high end units they ought to be able to do something for you.

Sorry, to hear you're having trouble.

Sell it here on WC or on ebay. Then buy the graph of your dreams.

Not all companies are like Lowrance. Pinpoint graphs have been upgradable since day one.
I can't wait for GPS! Oh yeah, that will be an upgrade by the way.
