Lake erie: The winner managed 39 pounds in a tournament that included thunderstorms and high winds. It was really tough conditions.
I was there!!!!!!!!

The tournament should have been held off till sunday. If you watched the weather radar there was a line of storms at the Oh, In. line, 15 to 25 mph winds forcasted. The RCL held the boats back for lesser conditions. There were 3 fisherman that fish MWC that where going to enter that day and just laughed. Way to go for the teams that held out and fished to the end, but $50,000.00 in boat and equipment plus life is not worth the money there was to be won.

Was in the tourny also and weather conditions were very BAD! It was sooo bad that we left our fishing spot a hour before weigh in time and unfortunately could not make it back in on time safely but we only had one 6 pounder, so we were disqualified (but safe). Was curious if anyone got into any of the nets in front of the launch enterance? We were coming in and seen rope laying on top of the water! Also heard that a pro team had 40 pounds and was'nt aloud to weigh in cause they was 4 minutes late. I guess rules are rules?!?!? The bite was VERY tough, although we marked alot of fish.

I might add that I was disqualified for being 2 minutes late, the wind kicked in while running back 11 miles in an already rough lake and we couldn't get any speed up, mistake on my part cause we only had 2 fish but one was around 10 pounds and could have been the big one. It's easy to second guess things but in hind sight it should have been delayed.

Prefished on Saturday, conditions were terrible with no fish caught. We listened to the weather forecast and decided to go home. Sounds like we made the right move, and yes we ran through the nets coming back in Friday night. Conditions were so bad that we didn't see the net buoy

Rules are rules. Tournament fishing is also about time management.

I can't tell ya who won, but I did fish the tourny for a few huors and said this is stupid, and went in early. Dave should of held off till sunday because it was real nice sunday, He also should of been at the meeting the night before like the paper I received in the mail said, and also should of checked live wells when we left.I know of 4 others boats that came out from chicago to fish and did not get in the tourny because the were sending us out instead of waiting for sunday(THE ALTERNATE BLOW DAY). You can call me chicken for not staying out, but you can not call me STUPID.(my boat and life is worth more than a 800.00 check)
Sorry, I don't have the answer to the original question either but I fished the tourny also. It was rough! Unfortunately, we put our bet on the fish north of Kelleys and the wave conditions were fair there. However, they never turned on and at times we thought about moving but we knew it was too rough away from the island to make a run even farther from the ramp. So we stayed on the inactive fish and made that 50 min. run back in with no fish.
Rules are rules on the time limit.

Blow days are put in place so if conditions are bad then wait til they improve. Half the teams there had watched the radar and seen that there were storms on the way. With already rough sea's with storms moving in it should have been held off. I fish with Hawgboy and agree It's not worth a life for $800.00.

Eric,
Just curious if this is the same Eric I talked to at Wild Wings Sat night. Nice to put a name with a face with a Walleye Central handle...

I think I talked to one of your buddies. Maybe Hawgboy. It was inside at the restaurant/bar. The guy I talked to was short and had a Mercury hat on. I talked to him a couple times last year. Pretty sure his name is Eric also. I'm the blond guy that was disappointed about only catching one fish during the USFA tournament. Sorry to take up the space in this post...just trying to connect some names, faces, and WC handles.

I think the usfa should take a long look at how they are being represented in the erie divison! that was the most unorginized and unfriendly atmisphere I have seen since I have been invlved with usfa. It make you appreciate a man like Bob Kid not Dave kid! I think he made us go out because he was to cheap to get a motel at catwaba like we have to. That's just my opinion and my hat's off to the illionis division for a great circuit should of fished with you guys instead.
Bob Kid runs a great show for the Illinois division, organized, professional and personable. I only fish a couple of USFA tournaments per year, but every time I show up Bob Kid remembers my name. In my book that is awesome.
Best Regards,
