I in the process of purchasing a new VHF Radio. My last boat had a Hummingbird which was a great unit, but I'm selling it with my boat and they don't make that unit anymore. Any Information on some good or great Radios & Antennas would be appreciated. Thanks.

Orange,
Look at the Standard Horizon Eclipse ($159 on sale at Boat/US). It's waterproof. Other choices are Raytheon 45 and 53 models. If you're radio will be exposed to rain/spray make sure its waterproof. Get a good quality 8' fiberglass antennae.
my 2 cents

Orangebarrel: Just make sure that you have a selective or programed scan.. If you fish a area where several frequencys are used, you will want to scan them only, without scanning the whole marine band, which some of the "claimed scanners" will only do.. Good luck FISHINg....Kaz

Shakespeare ranks right up top on antennas. There radio isn't all that bad, either. Raytheon makes a fine radio for under $200.

I really like my Raytheon unit. The display is one of the best I have seen for visibility and I've had no problems to date. A good Shakespear 8' antenna would be my choice in that area.
