I have a Shimano 1500LC line counter reel.I have not yet used it. I put some mono backing on it as to fill the spool some and help with the fireline slippage. I then reset the counter to zero and pulled out line using tension so as to create a realistic situation with a lure. The count seems to be out by 1 foot as it reads in yds(1 yd/1count on dial). I then pulled out quite alot more and it does seem out by quite alot. Is this normal with all line counters or is this not an accurate test. Should I fully spool it and then try? I was going to complete spooling it with fireline but if its not accuate then I'm going to return it and try a Daiwa. Thanx.

I have a 1500lc reel if you check the measurements you will find that it measures in meters eg:10meters +11 yds. It is a good reel but the only thing i dont like about it is that it has not got a clicker to alert you when you get a strike.

Thanks James. My instructions say it measures in yds. If it's in meters then it is out even more. I could be wrong but it doesn't seem to be very accurate unless perhaps as I said before maybe I should spool it up fully and try it. I just don't know.

Kelly,
Definetely fill it all the way up. Your instructions should mention this. Even then it might not be totally accurate (as in say reads 110 feet when you only have 105 actual feet out. Repeatability is the key though.
my 2 cents

I second that ! If the reel had a line out clicker it would be the only reel I would use for trolling. To hard to set dipseys and planer boards without clicker.

good luck
