I have a '97 tuffy ospry sc w/a 125eplto and I am thinking about tradeing my moter in for a bigger one to get places faster. I'm leaning towards a 150 Optimax with a manual jackplate, and was wondering if anyone out there has one like this and would be willing to give me some advice on this subject. Prop pitch etc. Fuel eff. MPH? Thanks TRAP

Unless you want to go to the new technology motors, transom hight, prop and the use of a transom jack might help. Your motor on that boat should be on the 2nd or third mounting hole up from the bottom. Measured with a straight edge off the very center of the keel to your cavitation plate, anywhere from 1.5" to 3" is acceptable. This of course will raise your rpms and the use of a water pressure gage is recomended. Then you can go to a bigger pitch ss prop. You should gain more top end and still not hurt the whole shot. A transom jack will add a set back and alow for easier adjusting of motor hight.
