I am looking for a professional/Semi-professional ($$$) that guides on the Detroit River (upper and mid-river). I am interested in fishing out of a smaller boat (Alaskan/1775/or similar), so I can learn technique. MarkC

Contact Capt. Jim Barda. His phone # is (313) 388-5847. Don't know if he has any openings or not, But, he is a very good captain. Good Luck, Bo #582

Johns guide service runs out of lasalle ontario. From what I know he runs a smaller boat.Ill have to find his phone # , but at 50cents on the dollar this may be the way to go. Wallys baits in windsor would have his number.

I can hook you up with GF Guide service in La Salle. Email me and I'll shoot the number back to you. They guide from the Ontario side. But, like someone else said....you're getting 1.55 canadian for every US buck these days.

Might call the Wyandotte ramp, theres a fella out of Ontario
fishes that boat type and guides. Mich INFO 1-248-555-1212 give city, municipal boat ramp.
"Alaskan" holds bow into current well with motor and transom downstream without a lot of clocking, one of your better tiller fishers. With all the big water around here most guides are into consoles to stay dry.
Mark consider this when rigging boat.
I fish a 17ft sporttroller that perfers to vertical jig off transom due to light weight of rig though I do vertical jig with bow mount also. Important thing to consider when vertical jigging is the other lines. My rear graph is right in line with my partners rod tip, two rods out fish 1 every time. "Calling" the fish it can be done and it prepares partner for bites!! On till your partener is ahead of you also, I see alot of bowtroll tugging going on, jigs in a line, and the excessive propwash.....

Another option.....

A fellow walleyecentral regular guides out of Ontario and knows the river very well. As mentioned before, the US/Canadian $ difference can be a plus. He runs an 617 Ranger and is very open to discussing technique, tackle, etc. Also guides for bass and musky on St Clair.

He knows the river very well, specially the upper reaches if that is what you are interested in.
