When I try to put my x85 in the 50 mghz mode I get a resposnes of No Sam contact. What am I doing wrong? Has anyone else had this problem? What can I do to get it in the 50 mghz mode?

Mine always says that when I first turn it on. But it then goes thru its start up routine and works OK. I only have the 50 degree transducer hooked up.

you are trying to run in 50khz mode. To do so you need another module called "SAM" that is basicly another sonar that runs at 50khz, you also need a 50khz transducer. Your X-85 runs at 192khz. The X-85 is a great unit, go to lowrance web site for a tuturial on the X-85.

you are trying to operate at 50khz. This is an option that requires a SAM module and 50 khz transducer. I suspect you have niether. Typical applications are for saltwater and very deep water, 192khz works best for most freshwater appications, go to lowrance web site for more info on X-85 operation, it is a great sonar.
