I have a 16.5 ft Alumacraft Magnum. I bought the MK 24 volt autopilot with 48 lbs thrust and a 54 inch shaft. The motor pushes me at 3 mph on highest power. The 54 inch shaft is more that I need except for Lake Erie. On inland lakes a 48 inch would be fine.

I have a Lund Angler 1650 with the MinnKota PD50 (12V). It gives me plenty of push. It has a 48" shaft which is perfect. If you get the shaft much longer than that, it can become a bit cumbersome mounted on your bow. Good luck and enjoy your boat.

Pocket; What size outboard do you have? I'm looking at a 1650 tiller with a 40 horse Merc 4-stroke. This board doesn't give that motor good reviews. Always thought I wanted a 50 horse 4-stroke but dealer says it won't troll slow enough. Would appreciate your thoughts.
