To all of you who have fished tournaments before, you know that part of the fun is the initial 'take-off' to start the tourney. Whether you'll admit it or not, the majority of us will always try to see how far we can move up the pack before we reach our destination. My idea is this: wouldn't it be great if this counted toward your final score. Let's say you had a three day tournament, Friday- Time trials on a marked shorter course, to determine what order you would start in on Saturday; fastest boat gets the 'pole position'. Saturday- the Race! Boats line up in two lines in order of time trials, and take-off on a longer marked course (like Fond du Lac to lake Poygan and back, per Merc Nationals) Sunday- Go fishin' boats leave in normal tournament format in the order in which they finished on race day. A point system can be given, to come up with a combined total for the two legs of the event. This way, those of us who don't always fair as well, on a consistant basis, in the fishing aspect ; can still earn points in the "race". Just a thought, tell me what you think.

Holy Smokes,For a second there I thought I was on the Bass fishing board by mistake !! Now I've got to go buy a Donzi, with dual 454's, I know where there is one for sale, but I can't afford the gas.

Sorry, but I don't like the idea of a race. I think it's just asking for trouble. Broken boats, and broken backs all over a starting position. Naaa, I think I like them the way they are.

Don't get me wrong, I like to go as fast as the next guy, but there are safety issues when you start putting it into a racing situation. Someone might not back off the throttle when they normally would... Know what I mean?

Just my opinion...

I can see it now the PWT Nasboat. The only thing is
when you all come out of turn 2 and you have a 14
boat pile up what then? Not a good idea, with all
weekenders out there that have problems with the
running and gunning of tournament fishermen, don't
get me wrong most have good boating ethics. It
only takes one bad apple, and it is a issue, we all have
heard it. Let’s just go fishing and forget the Nasboat
thing.

Just my opinion

My tiller is as slow as anyones. Even if i did have a fast boat I wouldn't be in favor of adding racing to tournaments. I don't think fishing and racing complement each other very well and I wouldn't want to be on the water when you had 150 boats screaming down the lake in a timed event.

It would be a good idea IF we tossed in a "Junkyard Wars" type of challenge. Make it a pro/am. The pro teams would have two days to build the boat and the propulsion system for the race and the tourny. To give the amature teams an equal chance in the tourny they could use manufactured boats but would have one day to make their own propulsion system. Ah; Yes! I can see the headline now; "Peluso (or Parsons etc) swims to victory in the Walleye Central Pro/Am"! ;-)

Hahahahahah now THAT'S funny! ;-)

I'm sure one of those brainiacs would figure out how to put little harnesses, with little built in GPS's, on their limit catches, and then the fish would pull them in...biggest fish limit would win of course!

Have a great day! Thanks for the giggles.

Is this race HP dependent, or can I enter with my little 30 hp johnson. I bet it's slower than anyone's......
