I am in a quandry. I had my heart set on a new Genesis motor, but I keep hearing horror stories from defective autopilot ptogramming (recent post), to foot pedal and mount problems (past posts), to units burning up (dealer). Has anyone had GOOD experiences with these motors? They are too expensive to be stuck with a lemon.
P.S. I have E-mailed the MinnKota rep asking about all this stuff and indicating that the Genesis is getting really bad press. Or maybe I'm naive to think they don't know all this already.
If you have a Genesis, let's hear about your good experiences.

This is my story. first unit worked two times, had it repaired and failed the first time out. I talked to Tim Price at the factory. I nicely told he that I was FED UP and I wanted a new unit. So he called my dealer, they had one, they go me the new unit and sent the old one back. I have used it three or four times now with excellent results. I truely believe this is going to be one heck of a product once the bugs are out. I recieved nothing but excellent service from their people. Good luck

I've used my Genesis about ten times or so and been happy with it. I did have a problem with my first foot pedal. The right button with the arrow didn't work. Covered by warranty and had a new foot pedal within a week.
Steve, They are good stuff but wait till next year. The 2001 models will have a universal transducer built into them that you can buy an adaptor for that will allow you to use your favorite fish finder with it. I think the feature will be well worth it. The feature will also be comming out on the Autopilot and Powerdrive models too. I saw the prototypes at the recent show in Chicago that was affilliated with the Bassmaster Calssic. Did I say a word with BASS ???????????? Sorry !!!!! Tom

Tom:
Thanks loads for the tip. I was considering that option to make sure the bugs would be fixed, but didn't know about the new features on line. Since it will be almost the end of the season anyway (we are going to get our first snow this weekend in CO) and my boat won't be delivered until mid-October, I will wait until the 2001 models are out and go with the revamped Genesis.
