After following this message board all winter and a little
research on my own I have decided to upgrade to a X85.
That is until yesterday when I found some new X75s for only
$299.00 and this includes speed and temp. How important
is the extra watts on the 85? I will be fishing Minneapolis
lakes, Mille Lacs, and a yearly canada trip. Is the extra
$100 plus for the 85 worth it?

what i have been told is that all the x85 will do beyond the 75 is enable penetration to much deeper depths or through salt water because of greater density. for walleye outside of great lakes maybe i don't think we need more than 50' reads and the 75 goes well beyond that. if this info is correct buy the 75 and a new dress and flowers for the wife. pocket the rest for gas - looks like you'll need it. the 75 works for me.

power is the only thing that is different. Unless you are fishing very deep depths (100+) most of the time, the x-75 will work out great.
I have a 75 and love it but hate the price today cause i paid a lot more just last year. It has worked great when jigging at 80ft and i really like the fastrac mode. Its fun to see your lure go up and down and watching the fish follow it.

I'm pretty sure Lowrance has discontinued the X-75. I'm sure that's why the price is better this year than last. If I remember correctly they said it really wasn't needed between the x-65 & x-85.
If you have more power in your sonar you will get better bottom seperation and definition.

I think as Chad said the 85 will give a better pic on bottom. go to http://www.lowrance.com and ask them what the 85 is going to do that 75 wont and yes the 75 has been discontinued.

Where by chance did you find the X75 at that price?? Was this online or at a local store?

Thank you for your response.

Just purchased the X75 this afternoon at
Woods & Water in Fridley, MN. The price
was $286.00 plus $10.00 for the speed & temp
sensor. They did have a few more.

ever not really want something until maybe you couldn't get it?

i have the 75. didn't know until this post it had been dropped. never got the speed/temp but have thought it might be nice to have speed w/o having to turn around and look at the gps. called Fridley's and they don't mail. anyone know where one can access that kind of price that would mail?

Larry,

Try Cabela's catalogue under Lowrance accessories. They have the ST units listed there. The X65 and X75 units are interchangable, as I would imagine is the X85 ST unit. Have a good day and good fishing.

Remember to keep your eyes open and your feet dry.

If the X-75's are all gone, just buy an Eagle Accura 240.
It's the same exact unit as the X-75 and they retail for about $279.00 at Cabelas or bass pro Shops.
Only difference between Lowrance and Eagle is Lowrance is Dealer only and the Eagle is for the mass merchants.
Same quality, warranty and all !

There are a few differences that one needs to consider. the backlighting on the X-75 is a brighter, whiter, display and the X-75 has a 10 year internal lithium battery, that makes a difference in day to day operation. I would buy an X-75 before the Accura 240, if available. There a still many around. Look for boat dealers that sell Lowrance products. I know of two or three places that have them.

actually only the light is the difference between the two, both have the same battery. Eagle is the smart buy no question about it.
