View Full Version : Looking for good mailorder bait!!
I am in need of a source of good bait that I can order and have shipped directly to my home. I am mainly looking for a good source of leeches with good size selection. I live in Western Montana and can only get what is available in my local stores. Most of the time it is unhealthy and small-medium sized leeches. Stocks are seldom rotated or culled so by mid to late june it seems like you get 2-3 dead ones per container. I hate to be the guy at the bait cooler who looks at each container to see if all are alive but feel like I have no choice. I would rather find a good mailing source and stock and keep my own. Any references would be appreciated. I saw some of the bait used at the PWT at Peck last year while fishing and the leeches were awsome. I realize these guys try to get the best bait available but this also means that there is better bait out there. Thanks for the help.. RJ in Montana

I called the guys at Minnesota Leeches, here in Milwaukee, and they said they could do it. They normally just send to the general Midwest section of the US, but would be able to ship to you also. He said it would cost a bit more for second day air, depending also on the weight of the shipment.
You can get more information from them at this number...414-744-2077. Their leeches are some of the best I have ever used. They don't have many right now, due to the fact, that it's just "that time of year", and their trappers don't have the right conditions for harvesting yet.
Hope this helps you out.

I ordered a couple pounds and I had them shipped to Utah from N.A.S Inc. in Ohio. They are at www.bestbait.com
The shipping is high, but like you say, what choices do you have? The first batch came dry (the bag broke) but they shipped replacements for free (triple bagged). Sent them UPS three day delivery. Second batch was in excellent condition. Real happy with their customer service. The sizes are real variable, ranging from panfish sizes to jumbos. I would guess that 80% or mor are medium and bigger (mostly large). Hope this helps.

Where in Utah do you live? How did the leeches work for you? I live in Utah and am going to try some leeches this year.

Work good on Yuba (but so does everything else), but as for other waters, I'm just giving them a good try this year too.
