Hey MD,
I can back up Ken whole heartedly.
I took all my boats to MW for service before they were my sponsor dealer with Ranger.
These guys know their stuff. For more info, you can find their web site on the links page here on Walleye Central.
Have fun.......R

If your willing to cross over the line into northern Illinois try Halings Marina in Antioch Illinois (847 395-2250). John Haling, owner/operator, has alot of experience rigging and servicing Lund Boats.
If you are looing for a decent price on a boat M.W Marine is O.K. But after you buy I hope you never need service. Same kind of question came up on another board and there were over 100 complaints about the service (nonservice) from these guys. My own expeirence was 7 months without my boat.
Dont just hit and run

What were your experiences that you were without a boat for 7 months? What was the other board? I dont think it fair to toss out a warning like that with a lot of heresay and a hint at personal trouble.
The other board is LAKE-LINK. Go back in the archives and look up M.W Marine. Way too many problems to list here, Don't have the time. They gave me a big run around on a boat under warranty that was popping rivots and had a warped keel. And before the bashing starts, No this boat was not abused at all, never hit anything or was never hard on this boat. In the end alumacraft sent me a 2000 to replace the 1998. They do have decent prices but once you buy go somewhere else for service, its not worth the headaches or the threats...
Thank you

There is no malice here, no bashing either. Thank you for a calm even tempered honest answer.

went there, searched, came up with no matches no matter what I did.
I do know this though, when dealing with a lousy hull problem, the dealer may have been fighting with the boat company too. It takes a long time to get some boat makers to admit trouble. Just ask some of the guys who posted here in the past. Hope all is well now and the new boat is up to your expectations. I for one, will buy from MW again, and I am taking my boat there tomorrow for some minor work.
Try McCurdy's in Kenosha 262-657-5005.Don,t have much experience as both my Lunds were purchased used but a couple of times I needed parts that McCurdy had in stock that I had previously ordered from Halings and just never came in.Two friends also did a lot of shopping and eventually bought from McCurdy and were happy with bought price and service. One has now upgraded and bought a second from McCurdy.I've also heard all good about Bob's in DeKalb,IL.

Geo, I am cyurious and looking for more info. Was this boat purchased new from MW? Was the hang up with MW or was the hang up with Alumicraft? How did Alumicraft sugest the damage happened? In the end they sent you a brand new boat, so that must be worth something.
The main problem was with the factory at alumacraft but M.W marine didn't help much once they found out it was a warranty problem. I got the whole speech on how the dealer loses money on warranty work and how they have to pay bills and employees, ect, ect, ect. It was a big hassle but in the long run I got the new boat and have been happy with it since. I personnaly would not go back there for anything( and I'm sure the feelings are mutual with them) but I have a buddy that just bought a boat from them and he said he had no problem with them and they were the cheapest in the area but he also has not needed service yet. As for alumacraft I do like my boat but the one I sent back I was told by VERN that a warped keel has been a problem with that style boat. (the keel from about 2 feet down from the tiedown eye on the front down to where the boat flattens out was warped pretty bad, No other damage of any kind). After sending it back the first time they added some rivots(some tan some white on a white boat) between the existing rivots and sent it back to me. I would not except the boat like this and sent it back. The second time I called vern he said the keel was straightened about 1/3 the way and thats the best he could do and was sending it back to me because as he put it "That little bit of bend won't effect the boats performance". After I told them a second time I would not except the boat looking as it did and them insisting they could do nothing else I got a hold of a lawer and things were corrected not long after that and I got my new boat.Once the boat came in M.W promised it to me on a specific date and it was not ready then a second date came and passed then I was told after 3 weeks of my new boat sitting at the store that my boat was not a priority so I will wait till they have time. It came down to them just changing the motor to the new boat and I needed to change the rest of the electronics myself(Trolling motor,Locator. Electric anchor, Rod holders.
Thank you
