This will be the first winter with this motor that my parents bought this summer. Just wondering if I could get any tips on winterizing it myself or do I have to pay someone, i have the time and space to do it but some tips and or advice would go a long way. Thanks for your time and reply(s) the boat hopefully will be stored in a barn or garage in my homestate (ND)

Here is my routine for winterizing my outboard.

1. Pour an appropriate amount of "Stabile" in the fuel tank.
2. Fill the fuel tank.
3. Take the boat out for a run - half hour or so - to draw stabilized fuel into the carbs and reservoirs.
4. Fog the engine.
5. Top off the fuel tank, including a bit more Stabile.
6. Drain and refill the lower unit lubricant.
7. Pull the prop and use compressed air around the exhaust area to blow out any remaining trapped water.
8. Lubricate per mfgrs instructions.
9. Remove all batteries and store them in a dry place for the winter. (Top off the charge every couple of months)
10. Commence planning for open water!

I just run some gas stable in the tank and change the lower unit grease. I don't fog the cylinders because the boat usually is not in storage for more than 3 months.
