I am going to be useing a different boat for my winter fishing on the Miss. and am concerned about being able to troll slow enuff. I have a 40 Mariner on a 17 ft Alumacraft and my slowest troll is 2 mph, to fast. I do not have room for a kicker and the idea of handling a drift sock or 5 gallon buckets in 10 degree weather does'nt really exite me, hence my question. Can anyone recomend a trolling plate that would work under my conditions, I have seen these things on other boats and allways thought they look real inconvenient, are they or do they actually work. Any brand recomendations or advice would be greatly apreciated. Thanks to all that reply.

Try a product called Happy Troller. It is Aluminum and Stainless Steel construction. They make two sizes, large and Small. I have a large on a 125 and it works great. I think this might be what you are looking for. E-Mail me if you have any questions. Tight Lines, Bob
