I am looking at updating my boat electronics, and am interest in the L755 or Profish II Map/sounder Plus. Both these units feature Cmap cartography, which I have used. Would appreciate any constructive input on both units. Thanks

To me, one of the more important considerations in a combination sounder/gps unit is screen size. The Raytheon has a significantly larger screen size (21.2 sq inches vs 16.1) which really helps when trying to display both sounder and plot info at the same time.

On the other hand, I really like having color for my sounder display -- which the Sitex has. A friend has the ProFish II map and it works well and is viewable in direct sun. Another friend has the Raytheon L750 which I assume is the same screen as the L755 and it is also good (his is mounted on the dash under a top so no real direct sun).

Overall though, I think that you're comparing two different classes of unit. The ProFish II is about $900, while the L755 is about $1,850 ($1,450 for the L755 plus $400 for the GPS/WAAS sensor). The Sitex is 300 w RMS and the Raytheon is 600 w RMS. WAAS GPS on the Raytheon, regular GPS on Sitex. Bigger screen on the Raytheon but mono. Although Sitex generally makes good equipment, the Raytheon is usually rated as a great unit.

My personal preference would be to have two separate units rather than a combo if there is roomo in the boat. Main advantage is that if I should have a problem with one unit, I still have the other while it is in for repairs. Also nice to display a full screen of nav and sounder info at the same time. If you are seriously considering the L755, I would look at getting the L750 sounder (about $660) and the RayChart 320 ($760) instead. Less money :-) but separate units and the 320 supports dual CMap NT carts (I think the L755 only does 1 cart).
