While I hunt for my back issue of B&WB which goes into detail on this subject, have any of you ever upgraded an OMC V4. I'm looking at a '94 used boat w/ a 110hp and wonder about the viability of converting it to a 140hp. I'm pretty sure that I read this is a bolt on swap. I'd love to hear back from anyone with experience on this as to the pro's and con's. Thanks.

Reed valve bolt-ons and carberator bolt-ons will accomplish what you are looking for. Several Aftermarket suppliers sell those kits. Look in the back of any BASS or B&W Boat magazine for names. No experience with any one particular MFR, but have seen several motors that have been done and improvements are dramatic.

Your prop and motor location will change with the added HP. Over revving your hopped up rig will be it's death, so watch your PRM's carefully untill you have the right prop.

Good luck.

The 110hp uses the same powerhead as the 90 to 115hp,it's different then the 120 to 140hp so I don't think you'll achieve your goal by bolting on parts. If anybody in our area nows what to do it's Baker Marine on Bluff Lake. He's on the water behind the Tiki Bar just east of Steitz's Resort.Hey,you want to buy my Lund Pro V 1700? It's for sell and you sould like your hot to buy a boat!

The 140 will use different carbs, and the high compression heads. You should have the "turtleback" exhaust on that motor. I would bet that Bakers could find the carbs and heads, and do a little porting and turn that motor into one hot package.
Tight lines and good fishin!

Thanks for your reply and I'm familiar w/ Bakers. Yes, I'm currently shopping for a boat. Please e-mail me back with some details on your Pro V. What engine, condition, color, trailer, etc. - and naturally, how much? Hey OOC, did you qualify for the finals in the Chain Series? Man, that Saturday NE wind was pretty brutal. Many good fisherman got skunked that day. My e-mail is goodogs@ameritech.net.

Steve(il),yes I qualified, yes fishing was tough, yes I cashed a check. The PRO V won't be for sale until the new boat is set-up.Right now I'm still shopping but my choices have been narrowed down to a Yarcraft 1785sc Mille Lacs or a Tuffy Osprey 1760c.I,m currently squeezing a half a dozen dealers to see just how much they'll squeak!Purchase will be paid for by past tournement winnings!Be patient, the right boat for you turn up.Now's the time to buy, though,as prices are right.
