Considering a Maxxum 75T (Vantage won't fit with my wave wackers) for my 1800 Pro V tiller. Just wondering what shaft length would be best (36" or 42") and will this motor allow me to backtroll with it when I don't need the Main engine (90 Honda).
Thanks

Big_Al,
I would go with the 42 inch shaft. The 36 inch shaft would work but if you decide use it in any kind of blow (fishing shallow when it's windy) you may run into problems. With the 42 inch you should be able to have the head of the motor up above the transom a little which makes it a little easier to control.
Wave wackers has made splash guards to work with the Vantage. I installed them on my boat last spring. Wave Wackers will sell only the side you need if you decide to go with the Vantage.

JUST GOT A MAXXUM 65BT FOR MY 1775 TILLER. 42" WORKS FINE ANY SHORTER AND YOU WOULD BE REACHING DOWN FOR IT, ALSO GETTING MOTOR DEEP IN THE WATER WILL HELP FROM AEREATING THE TRANSDUCER ON THE OTHER SIDE OF THE BOAT WHEN BACKTROLLING WITH THE MOTOR TURNED SIDEWAYS.

Ran a Minn-Kota maxim for a couple years. For the few extra bucks, get the longest and the biggest. You don't always need the power and the length, but you have it if you need it.
