I was wondering how the ice was doing on Mille Lacs? As of last week it was starting to pull away from shore.

Was anyone here paying attention in 1950 -- musta been a COLD spring, as many lakes had ice-out in late *MAY*!

Just drove by the big pond yesterday and although the ice is pulling away from the shore, there is still a solid cap on the lake itself. It's supposed to be in the upper 80's up here by this weekend. If it isn't gone by Saturday I'd be amazed. Bring it on baby! Spring has sprung!

I work in the Garrison area frequently. I was there yesterday (April 26). The ice was melted about 200 feet off shore in Wigwam Bay. In Garrison bay it was iced close to shore, probably a result of wind It still looked pretty thick to me. Many of the smaller lakes in Brainerd area still have ice on them, so it may be awhile. If we get 80 degrees, it will go fast though.
