I have a glass boat with a walk-thru windshield. The windshield has given me some trouble, but I like getting out of the wind this time of the year. Now it's time to order a new boat and I'm wondering if I should stick with the walk-thru.
Is anyone running a walk-thru on a larger glass boat (Ranger 620, Champion 194, Targa, etc.) and have you had problems with it? Would you order another one?
Thanks,
Steve W.
I have owned cener console boats and walk thrus, i would strongly recomend a walk thru if you like staying drier and warmer. It sure is nice to have that windshield to block the spray and wind, especially when it is cold. I have a crestliner 2050 sportfifh, and when it gets nasty out i leave on my bow cover and it makes for a much better experience1

I have a walk-through on my Yarcraft 1895 Storm. I probably lose a few mph and it really acts as a sail on windy days. However, I fish a lot in the cold and with my young children in the summer - as such, wouldn't be caught without one.

I have a 21' Aluminum boat (Jetcraft Bluewater) and a walkthru. During the Winter I close the door and put up the canvas around the cockpit area and am very comfortable. Use a Paulin heater / cooker when on the anchor.

I have a Targa 2000 with a walk-thru windshield and wouldn't have it any other way. I fish a lot of cold weather and some big water and it's so nice to fish all day in bad weather and stay dry. I have a wind block that snaps under the center of the windshield to the floor and keeps all the wind out while traveling in bad weather and its nice to get out of the cold wind. Sounds like I'm a sissy or a fair weather fisherman (I'm not) just smart. Get the windshield!

I also run a Targa 2000 with a walk through windsheild.I fish Eastern Lake Erie and the Niagara River till the end of November each year. When the cold weather, rain and snow hits, nothing is better then being behind the glass of the full windsheild, with top and snap on side sheild windows. I have a Ranger 619 with walk-thru. I had my windshield added to a dual console and had them use bolts across the front after reading about some mishaps with windshields on this message board.
i have a walkthru on my triton 205. i was sceptical at first, but by the time my first year was over and realized how nice it was to stay dry and/or warm. i wouldn't be with out it know. strictly personal comfort preferance.

I have a walk thru warrior. It is nice on rough water. The window can be removed any time you feel its troublesome.
I do like the look of the sport windshields on a dual consoles as long as there high enough like the warrior. Otherwise wear a raingear on the other boats.
