Can't find anything in the manual. I frequently lose either bottom and/or the depth read out in very shallow water 3 to 7 feet below the transducer. If I fiddle around with the settings, I can get a decent readout only to lose it again 5 to 60 minutes later. Slowing the scroll speed and reducing the sensitivity seems to help the most but doesn't result in an all day fix. Might be when the bottom changes from hard to soft. Sometimes the graph shows the correct depth but the digital readout shows some crazy number like 60 ft. Works fine in all other situations. Problem present when slow trolling and when drifting ultra-slow. Auto vs manual doesn't seem to matter.
Any ideas or suggestions will be greatly appreciated.

I've found that when very shallow I run mine on auto, It gets screwy around 2 ft. But shows bottom up till then. Hope this helps....
I have a lowrance 2400 that I purchased from Cabelas last year that did the same thing you are mentioning. I sent the unit to Lowrance this winter and they sent me a replacement, saying mine had failed some test's that they ran on it. I hope that the new one will be alright. I haven't had a chance to try it yet.
You might want to call there 800 number and ask to talk to a service person explaining your problem and they will either help you over the phone or arrange to have yours shipped to them.
I was very pleased with the service I received. Good Luck

I'm a bass fisherman. I'm in the shallows all of the time. The best thing I've found is to turn off the digital depth in the top left corner of the screen(the depth number). I also found that running the unit in manual mode with maybe 48% sensitivity works.
