I've got a 99 Pro Vee SE with a 2000 Ram Ficht 150, all stock as set-up by the dealer. Sorry, but I don't remember the specs on the prop for size and pitch as I sit here writing this; it is as it came from the factory. I'm wondering what other owners are seeing for top speed at WOT with a similar set-up. I've seen one local "magazine" fisherman claim to see 58 mph with the same rig with a 9.9 kicker on it. I'm not getting anywhere near this speed with mine, more like 46-48 mph with one person and a half tank of fuel. Just wondering what others are getting and if this 58 is a pipe dream. Thanks in advance for any help. John B
52 -54GPS is more realistic and that is with a 200hp. The speed your getting with a 150 is probably as good as it gets. Sometimes the water pick-up speedometers or the paddlewheel types will make your boat feel like a rocket, I assume the guy getting 58mph is getting false readings.
Hope this helps

Don't believe everything you read.
The speed you indicate is "right-on" for the rig you describe.

No way anyone is hitting 50 on that boat with a stock 150. My Crestliner 1750 SF with 150 Optimax, 6 inch setback plate and 21 pitch Trophy will do 54-55. 58 MPH!!! IN HIS DREAMS.
I own a 97 1900 Lund pro-v with a 150 hp fich. The best speed that I have gotten on GPS is 48 (SOG).

I run a 96' Pro-V 1890, SE, 175 EFI Mariner, 50 mph is about it.

I had a 1900 Pro V IFS with a 200 FICHT and 51 was tops, with a full tournament load. 58? Maybe on his speedometer. Mine said I was doing 60 when I was doing 51 on the GPS. Chris K
I run a 1998 1900 pro v se with a 150 mariner mag with a 21 pitch ss prop and top is 46-48 mph with a full load.

T-Mac, You mean 46 is right? or 58?

approx. 46 is what we get w/that rig, as described.

Thanks to everyone for the informative replies. I was fairly confident that the 58 mph was not the real world speed, and that my rig running at 46-48 was doing the best I should expect. Thanks Again, and good fishing to all for the New Year. johnb

I have a 19' Crestliner Phantom with 150 hp ficht. I used to be able to get 55 MPH (or more) out of a 14.25 X 19 Renegade 4 blade SS offshore prop.(fully loaded) However after the motor upgrade, I now am lucky to hit 50 in a nearly empty boat. Furthermore, I need to go to a 17 or 18 pitch prop because my RPMs now are only about 5000 @ WOT and OMC says that will eventually damage my motor. (not sure why, but I believe them)
My point is, 58 MPH may be pushing it but if it was a 150 ficht prior to the motor upgrade they might have gotten close. I highly doubt if anyone is doing it with the de-tuned versions.
I still like my FICHT & too bad about OMC's financial grief.

Craig, I think the reason you were getting such good speeds prior to your Ficht upgrade is due to the design of your boat -- you really have about a 18' 2" boat with about 10" of setback with that SST transom. That's why the boat is rated at 150 instead of 175 or 200. Excellent boat, BTW. If I had to get a combination fishing/family boat, a Phantom is THE BOAT to get. I really like that big livewell under the rear bench seat.
OMC is probably right about the prop, you're putting additional strain on the motor by running it at the bottom of the rpm range. A smaller pitch 4-blade prop will give you better hole shot, but it might drop you below 50 WOT. I like to prop my boat so that its running near the TOP of the motors rpm range with just me and a nearly empty gas tank. That way it runs about in the middle of the range with 2 guys, full gas and livewells, and all our stuff. In the real world, I'd rather give up a couple mph WOT for better hole shot anyway.
