Any reports from up north on ice out?

http://www.dnr.state.mn.us/current_conditions/index.html shows it only as far as Osakis on 4/25. After the heat and wind today I would guess it has gone further than that.

I live close to Otter Tail County and know several people there and Praire Lake, South Lida, part of North Lida and several other small area lakes are or will be open Saturday. My guess is that all river fed lakes in Otter Tail County should be close if not open by the end of the weekend.

Thunder Lake 7 miles south of MN 200 on HWY 6 breaking up. Most of the smaller, shallower lakes in the Remer/Longville area already there. Roosevelt still has quite a bit of ice hanging on. Lots of Luck on opener. I'll be on Birch and Vermillion.

Drove to Nestor Falls, Ont this past Thur. Up Hwy 53. Pelican at Orr was mostly free and with the warm wind today it may be mostly off. Returned past there yesterday and could see that it was getting closer than the day before. Good Fishing!!

I'm happy to report that Sturgeon Lake, and all surrounding lakes, in northern Pine County is/are open. Sturgeon went out Friday night 4/27.

I was just out on North and South Lake Lida in MN and the lakes are all virtually ice free. There is some ice slush on the North sides of the lake and that seems to be going.

Wow! I got a taste of wind today. 40mph gusts and I was on the lake. The Pro-V took a pounding but I stayed pretty dry! The new IPS is definately an improvement over the older hull! I was really happy with the big wave performance since I took 3 over the bow. That usually doesn't happen to me but since I am new with a console, I had to do a little big wave practicing...

Most of the smaller lakes near the Iron Range opened up yesterday. I expect that a few of the stubborn ones will open sometime early this week. Cut Foot is open. There is still some ice on Winnie but it should be gone very soon with the temps in the 80's, strong wind, and a possibility of thunderstorms in the forecast. Get the pole ready Martha, it's almost time to go fishin..............TM

WBC Fisher, How was the ice at Nestor Falls? I have a friend that will be heading up that way on Friday May 4th and I will be flying out Nestor Falls on Monday May 4th. If anyone has any info on ice conditions and expected open water for the Nester Falls and Souix Narrows areas we would greatly appreciate it.

I delivered my camper trailer up to Walker this weekend. Leech still had some ice on Walker Bay and big lake. You could get out through the narrows but not as far as Goose island.
The wind was blowing so hard, it was stacking the ice up on top itself. There was still some snow piles even on south facing banks.
