I am picking up my X-15 today.
I'm glad I did not run into some of these earlier problems....

If Lowerance was involved in producing the movie "Hunt for Red October" we would have seen a few sequels---
Hunt for Red November,
Hunt for Red Decmeber,
Hunt for Red January, ..... etc
Going to purchase mine Sunday, gulp!
yes many new updates but just think how much worst it could be - you still could have to send them back for the updates...
Mine is still on order, suppose to be a week to ten days, that was three weeks ago. If it still has not been shipped and delayed from the factory, will it have the new, and hopefully corrected software??
I am getting antsy as I have my new boat but without any electronics. Opener is comming up shortly!!!! Any answers will be appricated......Kaz
You're right! My lingering fear is that they may find a problem that software updates cannot solve.

Dont be misled by the fact that just because your machine is new that it will not need any updates. In fact, I wouldnt be surprised if the first thing you need to do is update it. That is what I had to do. Doesnt really seem right, but thats the way it works.

Kaz, Ive been using the x-15 for about a month now, when you pick yours up MAKE SURE IT HAS THE 1.9 SOFTWARE UPDATE I would get a money back guarntee if I were you. So far when it works witch aint often, it is great, big screen that you can see good. Ive had nothing but trouble with mine, and every time I call lowrance they tell me about a software update that should fix me right up. Im sick of updating the software on a brand new unit, so far Im on my third update, I feel sorry for the people that bought on of these units that dont have a 'puter at home or access to this great web site. GOOD LUCK

Loaded in the 1.9 tonight and it fixed the problem with the overlap navionics maps i.e. Winnebago - butte de morts, they split the two maps and made it so you have to turn on one Navionics map at a time. So if you have 5 detail maps on one MMC you have to select one map from a list.

I am feeling the same way you are about ppl buying these unists that done have the technology skills to be able to update them. I am barely able to do the updates, and dont like calling in for help all the time. I think the integration theory is great, but I think they shouldve done more research before sending them out to the public.

I have updated with V1.5, and have not done any updating since. If I update with V1.9, will it have all of the patches in it for 1.6, 1.7, 1.8 all at the same time, or will I have to download all of these individually?
As I understood (from reading the web site update page) you can update directly to the most current version. First the update deletes the vesion you have currently installed and then the update must be run a second time to install the new version. Sounds simple to me, someone out there must have first hand experience with it though.

The answer is yes. Each latest update is programed to remove any earlier versions of an update automatically, before installing the new update. Each latest update will have the previous updates built into them, that is why the earlier updates need to be removed.

Anybody??? I have the v1.9 downloaded into my computer in My Documents/Download, but cannot remember how to install in into the mmc card. Can you walk me thru it again. It is Saturday, and Im probably not going to get anyone at Lowrance to answer the phone. I have done it before, but just cannot remember how to install in into the mmc card. Thanks in advance.

HEY REDDOG, I DONT KNOW HOW YOU GOT IT INTO YOUR DOCUMENTS CAUSE IT ALWAYS(IM GETTIN PRETTY GOOD AT THIS) GOES INTO MY PROGRAMS AND THEN I JUST SCROLL UP OR DOWN TILL I FIND IT AND THEN I DOUBLE CLICK ON IT AND WHEN IT COMES UP I CLICK ON SAVE TO MMC VIA LOWRANCE INTERFACE AND IT JUST TAKES OFF FROM THERE AND I ALWAYS ASK IT TO CHECK SO IT WONT OVER WRITE A NEWER VERSION WITH AN OLDER VERSION! GOOD LUCK. IM A LITTLE CONCERNED ABOUT THIS 60' THING CAUSE I SAW IT FLASHING ON MINE AFTER THE INSTALL! BUT I AINT GONNA SWEAT IT TILL I HIT THE WATER. I STILL HEAR THE TRANS CLICKIN SO I DONT THINK IT FRIED! DONT SWEAT THE SMALL #####! THERE AINT A THING HERE MONEY CANT REPLACE!

Anxious, I moved ther download file into the my documents area, that is why it is there. It makes it easier to find when I download. I tried double clicking on the update, but that doesnt engage my mmc. If I go to my Map Create 5 icon on my desktop, there is a icon in there that says MMC browser, but that dont seem to do anything either. When I click on that, It takes me to a place where I can see the mmc interface, but I dont remember how to open the interface. Ill probably just have to wait till Monday and get in line.
Thanks to both of you for the heads up on the updates. I will ask them to show me the software before I pay the money. Hope the sumilarator will tell if it will work properly.. Thanks again...Kaz

I WASNT TRYING TO PRY INTO YOUR PERSONAL INFO,I JUST DIDNT UNDERSTAND HOW YOURS COME TO BE IN YOUR MY DOC'S. I HAVE RUN THE DOWNLOAD B4 AND HAD TO REDO IT FOR SOME STRANGE REASON. AND I DONT PUT IT TO DISK EITHER LIKE THE WAY THEY DESCRIBE. I THINK I HAVE HAD TO REDO IT TWICE. I STARTED OUT WITH 1.1 AND HAVE WORKED MY WAY UP THROUGH THE RANKS FROM THERE! GOOD LUCK!
