Woo Hoo!

After tournament reschedulings, personnel changes, computer crashes and learning the administrative part of this job, I'm pretty well caught up.

Big Stone confirmations and reconfirmations were sent out this week to Team Captains only. If you haven't received yours by the end of next week there is a problem with your address or registration. Please call.

Similarly, confirmation and reconfirmations for the remaining tournaments will be going out next week to all Team Captains.

Membership cards have been reprinted for all anglers as it was unclear precisely who had received them and who hadn't. If you haven't received your membership cards, decal and patch, you'll be able to pick them up at the Rules Meetings. If you already received a membership card, you're welcome to exchange the one you have for this current version. It won't make much difference either way, but note that member numbers have changed in some instances.

Information for updating the MWC web site will be going out early next week and we should have current registration information available and updated at least weekly.

Please note that except for VIPs, boat numbers for all tournaments are being randomly assigned about a week prior to each tournament.

Current registrations:

Big Stone: 116
Little Bay: 87
Green Bay: 80
Erie: 24
Dubuque: 51
Pepin: 69

As is the case each year, most anglers are waiting until the last minute to part with their entry fees. I'd do the same thing.

Registrations for each tournament will be taken until I have to prepare the payout checks, usually 3 days before each tournament. Once the checks are prepared, it will be too late to cancel and receive a $350 refund.

That's it from this end.

1st of all post #6 was NOT made by the original Pro V.
It was made by a pro-v impostor!

I have to believe that one of the reasons the early entrys are
down for the MWC is account of all the tournaments that are available now. The number of walleye tournaments is 3 or 4 times what it was a few years ago.
Besides the MWC you have the Pro Team Walleye plus the Team Team Walleye,Pro WWA,Team WWA,RCL,PWT,Iowa Walleye Trail,Walleye Anglers Trail,Minnesota Walleye Tour, Chain Walleye Series,North American Walleye Trail,Merc. Nationals,Wave Wackers, etc, etc, etc!! Plus HUNDREDS of local walleye tournys!
I could fish 12 walleye tournaments a year and never leave my home water. That's the biggest reason I am not running the circut this year.

How about you pro-v impostor what do you think?!

Competition for anglers is certainly one of the reasons the nmumbers are down.

But another reason is that, unlike in the past, there is no incentive for VIP entries.

Last year, if you were after points, you needed Spring Valley to help ensure you were in the running. And the only way to be sure you were in was to register for 5 tournaments in advance.

With 7 sites this year, that's no longer the case. The importance of Spring Valley for points is less because there are two other sites to choose.

There are a good many past VIPs that are fishing 5 or more MWC tournaments this year, but they're signing up for them individually rather than upfront.

The Championship dates are 10/16 - 20.

No changes in the number of teams . . . top 50 from last year (was always the plan, BTW).

As to better payout and enhanced cometition, that's to be our secret for now.

Letters went out to both captain and teammate last week.
