View Full Version : St.Croix Rod for Detroit River
I want to buy a St.Croix Casting Rod for to use on the Detroit river (jigging only). Any suggestions on what size and model I should get? I've been looking at the Avid AC62MXF 6'2".. I will be putting a Calcutta CT 151A reel on it, don't like changing hands....Thanks...Glen
The Avid Cast model is a good spinning rod for jigging.
I prefer the Premiere Cast series, or Legend Elite series of spinning rods. It's merely a personal preferrence.
As long as it's a St. Croix you're on the right side of the tracks.
Good luck,

Good rod, premiers are good also. That Calcutta have a flipping switch? Procaster does and a few quantums do, free up a hand with a baitcaster use flipping option. The instant the jig hits bottom release "thumbar" and start jigging you are right into anti-reverse Perfer this because it allows me to set the hook with one hand and either hand. Love Shimano reels but....
