I run into this a lot, and never saw it brought up before, but after a person backs there trailer into the water at night, it would sure help the guy next to us back his up if we shut our headlights off... Just a suggestion, but few people do it!

It's getting more difficult to be polite with the new vehicles with the automatic headlights. One of our cars you have to set the parking brake, then turn off the engine and restart it to get it to sit there with just the parking lights on or no lights on. Odds are the car will restart, but who wants to tempt fate while you are parked on a boat ramp after dark.
