View Full Version : Re-rigging a new boat.
I ordered a new boat awhile ago and I was going to put 2 Evinrudes on it, thus it was pre-rigged for those particular motors. The boat was built and rigged long ago but I still have no motors on it and it is still sitting at my dealers yard. My question is can the boat be re-rigged to put different motors on it and about how much would this cost as I may end up having to do this if the OMC fiasco doesn't get resolved soon. Thank you.
It sounds like the OMC deal is being cleaned up - go with the original motors. I suspect that you will be very happy with your rig.
Take care

Ditto... REW is right, I don't own any OMC motors but with the new owners you should be OK. Whew!!!!! Glad that whole thing is over. I'll bet all the OMC owners are able to grow their finger nalis back again... Maybe my buddies will smile again :)

The guy to ask is SlipBobber, if he is on. He rigs for Frankies.
The other guys are right. You should be fine with the OMC motors, however, if you do find a good deal on another set of motors, re-rigging is not that hard and the dealer that has your boat now should be willing to accomodate.
If not, check around, you might find the same boat/motor package elsewhere.

I hope you have read about the good news at OMC. It sounds like you will be able to run what you orderd. A good choice. To rerig your boat would not be cheap. New tach, trim gauge, controlls, cables, And whatnot would run in the $600 to $700 range. The Evenrudes are great motors
