I'd like some opinions on the best sunglasses to use for sight fishing, locating panfish beds, following muskies, etc. Thanks..GC

For seeing fish in relatively shallow water as you describe, amber colored lenses work best. I have a pair of Ocean Waves amber lense sunglasses with a green mirror on the front. Work great for what you describe and in rivers site fishing for salmon and steelhead.

Also have a pair of H2Optics in amber that work well, but I think the Ocean Waves are better.

There is a brand of sunglasses that are designed for water sports called Maui Jim's. They are probable the sigle best pair of sunglasses for protecting the eyes while fishing. They are a little more money but well worth it when it comes to the eyes and for seeing fish. Talk to your local optometrist or check their website.

Good luck and Good fishing

Have used the Maui Jim's for about 4 years. Excellent shades! Very durable, glass lenses do not scratch, and I believe you can get prescription lenses. I wear them all the time, even on cloudy days. Cuts glare (from water, snow, grass, concrete, etc.) better than any glasses I have owned. Will be buying a second pair (must remember to remove them before you take off your snowmobile helmet!). They cost approx $250 in Canada. Because I am partialy blind in one eye, they reduce eye stress from squinting in high glare conditions. I believe all their lenses are polarized.
