How to catch walleye

I have just moved to Colorado and have been going trout fishing in wyoming and have been told there are walleye in the river i am fishing and would like for someone to give me a little info on what type of rig and /or bait to use to try and catch these fish from shore or am i just waisting my time. Any info anyone can give would be greatly appreciated, i am from NC and have never fished for walleye, but i did catch 4 nice trout last weekend. Thanks Alot Doodle doodle66@qwest.net
